Can someone tell me what are the options to stay at the uni during summer. I`ll be a fresher this year but it is interesting to me. I know there is something like summer accommodation but the question is, Is it possible to actually stay all the 52 weeks there ?

As far as I know the university offers contracts until the end of August, but there will be a two week gap between the end of the old contract and the start of a new cotract for a second year in halls. I know some students who will stay on campus during the summer but priority will be given to postgrad students and only very few undergrads will get a place over the summer. Normally one or two halls besides Lord Thomson remain open. Friends of mine got a place in Lord Home Hall for this summer.

For a prospective student such as yourself, I do not believe the university offer any long term accommadation, they do rent out rooms for confereces/sporting events or visiting the university etc. but that is at high non-student rates as what you would be effectively getting is a hotel room.

If its next summer your asking about "old student" pretty much has it. The hall let doesn't cover summer and I havent heard of any undergrads staying long term. If it is a contents problem though, there are many storage facilities near heriot watt which I believe offer deals to students. Although if you are worried about where you'll stay you might consider renting a flat in second year with an earlier start date?
