- Hi. I'm a resit student just going into third year so I had to wait til today to enrol but I can't even get past the first login page as I can'r remember any of my login details. I tried my PC Cal username and clicked "forgot login", and did the same with my registration number but had no luck. I also tried my person number from my student card but it came up with "Security Question is not setup" which I'm pretty sure I did. Can someone please tell me what I can do, I'm totally at a loss here...

Loving the spammers on the forum! :) On another note, Freewire seems to be working out ok, but my laptop is running very slow. I've done the usual virus scans and deleted most of the crap off it but it's still dead slow. It's about 3 years old, running XP but fairly high spec for it's age. Can anyone help? :)

try downloading a program package called tuneup utilities (free 30 day trial) then once installed run the one click maintenence program, it should make a noticeable difference.

talking about freewire, if you forget your login details and go to recover them instead of asking you the security questions which you answered it asks for you e-mail and e-mails it to you
Great i cant get the internet until i get my login details though cant get my login details without the interview. epic catch 22

This is such a great resource that you are providing and you give it away for free. I enjoy seeing websites that understand the value of providing a prime resource for free. I truly loved reading your post. Thanks!

A couple of ideas:
1. Are you sure you have cleared any and all viruses, no virus scanner is ever 100 % guaranteed to remove all viruses. You can get McAfee free of charge from the IT Helpdesk in the library or AVG free online, its worth trying more than one in sequence. (But only one at any given time!)
2. Try downloading Linux System Rescue from sysresccd.org/Main_Page which is a "linux live cd" with a virus scanner. You can boot into this to then scan your hard drive for viruses without windows running which can sometimes find more viruses. (Hopefully that makes sense!)
3. Type MSCONFIG into the "run" box in the start menu. This launches the "System Configuration" for Windows and allows you to show all the services and applications that launch in the background when your laptop starts up. You may find there are things starting up that you wouldn't expect to be starting or don't need. These can then be stopped from starting up. (Take care to use google to check what the more obscure ones are, before disabling them to ensure you don't disable anything critical!)

Robin Smith:
Perhaps you can use the WiFi on campus to access your email or the PCCAL machines in the library which is currently open 24 / 7?
