- Hi. I'm a resit student just going into third year so I had to wait til today to enrol but I can't even get past the first login page as I can'r remember any of my login details. I tried my PC Cal username and clicked "forgot login", and did the same with my registration number but had no luck. I also tried my person number from my student card but it came up with "Security Question is not setup" which I'm pretty sure I did. Can someone please tell me what I can do, I'm totally at a loss here...

Why is it that we have to wait till July to get our results but to be able to get funding sorted for the start of the semester we need to apply by the end of June.
Some of us need our results so we know what we are studying, for how long and at what level. My exam board meeting was 11th June so how does it take a month to post a sheet printed from the ISS or whatever they're calling it now? I thought one of the points of having vision was so results can go up on there, there's also the email system that's meant to be secure? Why do we need to receive our results on paper when there are other, more up to date and 'green' methods available? I'm fully aware that the Association has nothing to do with the way results are distributed but I do know that they have access to the people who do. :)

I totally agree, i think it's time to up date the results system, it takes way too long. I think letters still should be sent to the home adress as an official paper but results should be put up on vision as soon as they are ready !

Hi,
I completely understand your frustrations with the current system.
This is a very busy time for the University - particularly Registry, who not only process all the results but are also busy arranging a series of graduations in several locations and setting up the new Student Service Centre. In addition to this, they are also working hard to implement a new Student Administration Service (SAS) which will replace ISS. When this is implemented, you should be able to access results through VISION because the systems will link up. For this to work, a lot of ground work (transferring records etc) needs to be done in time for registration this year. So, the change you want is on its way and hopefully it won't be too long.

Following on from Simon's point, don't expect the transition to be smooth.
Moving files and adapting to the new system, along with the setting up of the Student Services Centre will be a massive job. Not to mention the fact that, like Simon has said, it's got to be done before registration. I'll just say good luck to the uni for now, haha.
I was wondering about this too, so I'm looking forward to seeing it in practise - not had much joy with the mentoring system to be honest. :o(

Fair point Simon, but it's been like this for the last 4 years plus.
Ok, the university is busy implementing all these changes for us, all at the same time but we've had uni emails and various web-based virtual learning environments for a long time now. Why does it all need to happen at once and why has it taken so long to be implemented? Also, when I contact registry and they say I cant have my results through email due to Data Protection, whose data are they protecting? :)

I'm sure everyone would like to get their results by email or through VISION (some schools are uploading pass proceed notifications by matriculation number in addition to sending a letter) and that is why the VLE and admin systems have been selected - because eventually they will be able to do it. For Registry to do this manually for every individual Student would take a a lot of time (there are 7,000 Students on UK Campuses)- this very quickly becomes a huge task with a high demand on staff time. The SAS project has been delayed by several years and this should have been fully functional at the start of semesterisation so the University have been working towards this although granted, it is a little later than anyone would have liked.
Scott - if you email the problems with mentors we will try and pick up on these

Thanks for the detailed response Simon. It's making a bit more sense now. I've managed to get an appointment with my mentor for friday of this week, so I'll get my results then! :)

Our department put all of the results up on vision for us. I also believe that you can find out your results by emailing the relevant person within your school

It's ok Simon, I got it sorted out and will be changing mentors. ;o) It's taken a while, but got there. Most people seem to have had an alright experience mentor-wise, but seems I haven't been one of them sadly. Thanks anyway. ;o)
